Golesworthy Cup: Otterton 1st X1 1, Millwey Rise 1st X1 3

The game started brightly with both sides looking well matched and creating opportunities at either end but it was Otterton who managed to get on the score sheet first.

Spurred on by this, Millwey increased the tempo and the pressure paid off when Joe Osbourne headed home for the equaliser. More chances went close before Ty Allen, who had a great game as stand-in keeper, sent a long clearance upfield which bounced over the Otterton defenders and allowed Cameron Board to collect and slot the ball past the keeper and into the net.

Millwey were now in the ascendancy and battling hard. The third goal came from another long ball over the top of the Otterton defence and Board again rounding the keeper for his second and Rise third and final goal. Ben Rosling came on to replace Luke Thurlow and Wayne Jenkins for Dave Bridges as Millwey saw the game out.

Stand out players were Nathan Womersley and Leigh Beer who once again put in another excellent performance.

Millwey 1st X1 travel to Exeter next week to play Whipton & Pinhoe 1st X1
