Axminster Town are out of the Walter Parsons Cup, beaten 3-2 in a close affair at home to Liskeard.

The Cornish side - lying in fourth place in the South West Peninsular Premier West division - looked the better side in the first half with Axminster conceding two soft goals.

But the Tigers fought back well in the second half and created a number of chances.

Man-of-the-match went to Jamie Short, who scored one of the Tigers' goals.

A after the game, manager Dan Prettejohn said: "It was a pleasing second half to a game that was in danger of getting away from us in spells.

"Chances created were also a plus considering the festive break which disrupted our momentum."

The match was sponsored by Ray Self of Recon CCTV.

Axminster return to league duty on Saturday with a home match against Dartmouth AFC who sit in eighth place in the South West Peninsular Premier East Division, two below Axminster (kick-off 3 pm).
