Tigers' Under 11s in nine-goal thriller

Axminster Under 11s 4, Brixington Blue Utd 5.

The Tigers' Under 11s started well, missing a good number of chances and hitting the cross bar in the first 10 minutes.

However, this wasn't to last as Brixington started to get into the game with some impressive runs down their right wing and making life difficult for the Tigers to get their passing game together.

A couple of changes were made in the first half to contain Brixington's best player which worked with Fred Mals doing a fine job, but they went in at 4-0 down at half time with a soft penalty decision going against them.

Tactic board out, substitutions and some home truths saw our boys come out the second half a different side. Axminster were now getting to the ball first, being more physical in tackles and taking some good chances again, resulting in goals coming from Arthur Porter with a superb header from a corner, William, Louis and Marco hitting three more goals in the back of the opposition net bringing the game to 5-4.

With 10 minutess to go we brought back striker Fred Male who wasn't feeling very well in the first half, his movement off the ball and runs created some good chances was really starting to unsettle the Brixington defence, and with the last kick of the game Fred's shot went just wide of the Brixington goal.

It was a great game and a draw would have been a fair result. Manager Ian Manning said: "It's good to see the boys raise their heads when the chips are down and come back with a fighting spirit. As coaches, we just wish the team could play like the second half every week, but that's football.

"Man-of-the-match went to Fred Mals who kept Brixington's best player out of the match, although all the boys deserved something for their attitude and contributing to the team."
