Axminster Town Under 18s 3, Chaddlewood Minors 2
After the Tigers' Under 18s first win of the season in the second round of the Devon Cup, Axe approachedo the third round full of hope. The opponents from Plymouth came with bare bones and men down but full of fight and didn't make it easy for the lads.
Max Churchill got the scoring underway with a stunning 25-yarder driving into the top corner to surprise the visitors.
But this didn't last long as a long through ball caught out the quiet defence and Dylan White in goal, for the striker to comfortably roll the ball into an empty ne .
Just before half-time Ben Fox got a great goal with a quick give-and-go. He rounded the keeper to slot home to make it 2-1 up at half time and looking comfortable.
The second half was not so good with sloppy passes going astray and it was the Minors who got the equaliser from a corner, powerfully headed home to draw the game level.
With penaltiess looking likely it was a silly free-kick conceded for foul language from the opposition. This allowed an indirect free-kick to be taken on the second attempted and was duly smashed home from Owen Dibling with the last kick off the game to send the Tigers into the next round.
The young Tigers will have to improve for the next game to get a result but they got through with their second win of the season. The man-of-the-match award went to Under 16s' player Dylan Burrough.
