ALTHOUGH they have only lost one game in this COVID reduced season, Axminster Reserves must win their last game on Saturday and hope that their nearest rival, Ottery St Mary 2nds, drop points in their four remaining matches, to win the Devon and Exeter Division 2 East.

The Tigers had won all their games until last Saturday when they lost 2-0 at home to a strong Ottery.

If Axminster beat Exeter United on Saturday, they will finish the league with 33 points. Ottery are currently in second place with 22 points. So if they win their remaining four games, they could top the division with a single point lead over the Tigers.

Saturday's away trip to Exeter United is crucial for Axe. They beat the Exeter side 2-0 at home in a very in a very aggressive game in which United received six yellow cards with ne ending off.

Axminster booked their place in the quarter final of the Devon Senior Cup with a convincing 5-1 victory over neighbours Millwey Rise with goals from Charlie Wilson (2), Joe Jones, Dan Scadden and Lewis Waldy. They now meet Bow at Tiger Way on Wednesday, May 19th.

Millwey Rise could finish in third place if they win both of their final two games – home to Crnbrook on May 22nd and away to Ottery on May 26th.
