Axminster Ladies win first friendly 4-2 at Barnstaple

Axminster Ladies made a trip to North Devon to kick- start their official pre-season friendlies with a win, beating Barnstaple Town 4-2.

Player of the match Poppy Cloke opened up the game with the first goal, followed by new signing, Lorna Button, on her debut match to make it 2-0.A

The ball hit the Barnstaple crossbar three times before the half-time whistle blew withAxminster leading 2-1.

Cloke opened fire twice, with one goal rolled not to be over the line , but she ensured the next shot fired, hitting the back of the net to make it 3-1.

Great saves by keeper Izzy Rudkin, protected by a solid defence, kept Barnstaple goals at bay, with dominant Axminster midfield leading the game.

Axminster had more shots on target, but they kept away by the Barnstaple defence and keeper.

New signing Chelsea Petherbridge delivered, burying it past the keeper to finish the game 4-2 winners.
