C DIVISION EAST
Uplyme and Lyme Regis' firm grip on the C Division East top spot, after promotion last season, has been eroded slightly after losing two of their last three Devon League matches following a storming start to the current campaign which saw them top the table for nine weeks.
On Saturday they travelled to Tiverton to meet Heathcoat, a fixture which the difference in league position would have made Uplyme firm favourites. But it did not work out that way.
Heathcote, in sixth place in the division, won the toss and elected to bat, setting a target of 245 which they scored off 45 overs and the loss of six wickets. Star batsman for the home side was No 4 William Bucknell who carried his bat for 89.
Top bowler for Uplyme was Jack Lamb-Wilson who finished with figures of 4 for 57 off eight overs.
The highlight of Uplyme's reply was a glorious undefeated 93 from opener Mark Batey but only skipper Sam Farrow (34) showed any batting form and they were 43 runs short when stumps were drawn.
This defeat saw Uplyme drop into second place.
Heathcoat 19 points, Uplyme and Lyme Regis 8 points.
