East Devon District Council's Cabinet has decided to re-open more toilets across the district for public health and to support economic recovery.

Four more public toilets are to re-open in East Devon from Monday, June 29, adding to the ten facilities across the district that opened up a month ago to give better access for the public.

East Devon councillors have been told to reinstate a budget to open public toilets and keep streets clean, or face public dissatisfaction and a risk to health.

It has been recommended that district councillors reinstate the StreetScene agency budget to enable the East Devon's beaches, parks and streets to be kept clean, and to consider reopening more public toilets.

No date has yet been fixed for swimmers to return to the Flamingo Pool in Axminster

Three local organisations have received grants from Sport England to help them through the coronavirus crisis.

Seaton Cricket Club has received £4,495, Axe Cliff Golf Club in Seaton will benefit from £8,500, and the Axe Valley Swimming Association, which runs the Flamingo Pool in Axminster, has received an £8,800 grant to help with expenses.

Since mid-May, Seaton Tennis Club has been up and running again following partial lifting of the lockdown.

The clubhouse remains largely closed to minimise any possible virus transmission, but otherwise members have been getting back on court and enjoying the fantastic weather.
