The Marshlands Centre in Harbour Road, home of Seaton Town Council since 2016

Seaton Town Council is planning to explore the possibility of redeveloping their home since 2016 at the Marshlands Centre in Harbour Road.

At next Wednesday's meeting of the full council members will be asked to commission a feasibility report on the drafting of a tender process for demolishing existing buildings at the centre and replacing them with a purpose-built office accommodation for the council.

A canoe capsized at the mouth of the River Axe, a notoriously difficult area to navigate

Beer Coastguard & Rescue Team had a busy day yesterday (Tuesday), as they were called to a capsized canoe and cliff fall.

While on safety patrol in the morning, officers were tasked to a capsized canoe with two persons in the water at the mouth of the River Axe.

Devon is said to be in a good position to welcome back visitors from July 4th following lockdown

Devon is in a good position to start welcoming back visitors following the government's announcement yesterday (Tuesday) that overnight stays would be permitted from July 4th.

Councillor John Hart, leader of Devon County Council, one of England's 11 Beacon Councils who will be leading the future local management of COVID-19 in partnership with the government, said: "All the evidence from our Public Health experts shows that because we were able to get an early grip on the virus Devon continues to have one of the lowest rates of COVID-19 cases in the country.

East Devon District Council has urged the public not to use skateparks, which still remain closed under lockdown restrictions.

The council said it has received a number of enquiries from people who would like to see skateparks and multi-use games areas re-open and, while it understands the eagerness of some to use these much-loved facilities, government guidance advises that playgrounds and similar facilities must remain closed for the time being.
