The chairman of Colyton Parish Council has praised the "extraordinary resolve" shown by residents during the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 100 volunteers have been supporting those in self-isolation in Colyton and Colyford with bespoke support networks quickly set up by Anne West in Colyford and Sue Brown and Liz Berry in Colyton.

Colyton has welcomed Brian Norris as its new town crier.

Brian takes over the role from Derek Wenn, who hung up his robes in 2018 after 15 years of service to the community.

Plans are afoot to bring together two of Seaton's biggest attractions next year.

Seaton Tramway, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is hoping to create a new stop which will allow passengers to alight a Seaton Wetlands.

Life is being restored in the River Coly following a major pollution incident in May.

Hundreds of fish were killed when 100,000 litres of farm slurry was spilt into Southleigh Stream, near Colyton, in the spring.

Seaton Jurassic will be the venue for a new 3.5-metre high sculpture by US-born artist Marcus Vergette.

The sculpture, named 'Chalara Tower', is made from wood salvaged from ash trees which have succumbed to the fungal disease ash dieback. It is estimated that the disease could kill 90% of the UK's ash trees over coming decades.

A section of the Esplanade in Seaton is set to be shut for 18 months for the redevelopment of seafront flats.

The road will be closed between Fisherman's Gap and Beach Road from the Moridunum (between The Burrow and Homebaye House), to allow for the redevelopment of the Fosseway Court flats to be carried out.
