Parents and young children will be disappointed to hear that local attraction Pecorama is removing its popular soft play area.

The visitor attraction in Beer has taken the decision to close and remove the 'Play Station' to allow for extra space for staff from its adjoining Peco factory, which produces model railways.

A life was "undoubtedly saved" when coastguards were called to the rescue of a woman who had fallen 100 feet down a cliff between Beer and Seaton yesterday (Thursday).

Beer and Lyme Regis coastguards were called to the scene, where the woman was located on a ledge 80 feet above rocks by the police helicopter, which helped direct the coastguard teams who were unable to see her from the clifftop.

The extent of festive cheer brought to families in the Axe Valley struggling through the Christmas period because of COVID-19 has been revealed in a letter to Seaton Town Council.

Andrew Gwyn Davies, director of Re:store Axe Valley, the community interest company (CIC) set up to continue what had been established by the Seaton Coronavirus Community Group, wrote to the council detailing how the town had come together to help those in need.
