Seaton annual town meeting to be held in car park

Seaton residents are invited to gather in a car park this Thursday (May 13) for what is set to be the town's most unusual annual meeting.

It was initially planned for Seaton Town Council to host the annual town meeting via video conferencing app Zoom, as other council meetings have been held for the past year.

But the government has decided not to extend COVID virtual meeting regulations, which means virtual meetings lost their legal status on May 6.

Now, residents are being invited to meet in the car park of the Marshlands Centre on Harbour Road from 7pm on Thursday, where they will be able to raise local issues.

The meeting will open with an introduction from the newly-elected Mayor of Seaton, Cllr Dan Ledger, followed by a report on the past year by outgoing mayor Cllr Ken Beer.

There will also be reports from district and county councillors, followed by a public question and answer session on local issues.

Parking is limited, so those attending are asked to park off-site wherever possible.
