Long-standing Guide Dogs fundraising volunteer Pauline Pearce single-handedly raised £400 at Seaton Tesco in memory of her late husband, Colin.

Pauline, a fundraiser and collection box co-ordinator for Guide Dogs, set herself a challenge to independently carry out a collection at Seaton Tesco and beat the previous amount she was able to raise there in May 2019, all in memory of her husband Colin, who was also a dedicated Guide Dogs volunteer.

Beating her previous collection amount from 2019 was no mean feat, especially during the rising cost-of-living, but Pauline had a four-legged pug friend to keep her company and spirits high at the supermarket.

Pauline reflected on her independent triumph, saying: "I am really pleased with the result and both me and 'Hug a Pug' enjoyed the day!

"I was sat in store, at a good vantage point as customers left the checkouts. It was a great day having a bit of banter with people I know and don't know - it was lovely, and I don't know where the time went! I was given three cups of coffee through the day and Tesco made to feel really welcome by the staff.

"I am very happy to think that I have helped toward pairing up a visually impaired person with a lovely Guide Dog. It was a challenge that I really enjoyed doing and I think Colin was watching over me."

The Guide Dogs Honiton branch was delighted for Pauline and her immense efforts to raise essential funds.
