Seaton Town Council has announced further details of the inaugural Jurassic Weekend, to be held from Thursday, August 24 to Saturday, August 26, offering varied, fun events for all ages.

The weekend events will get underway with a Jurassic Quiz at The Gateway Theatre on Thursday, August 24 from 7pm. Teams of up to six are welcome to enter for £5 per person and tickets available to purchase from The Gateway Theatre.

On Friday, August 25, from 10am to 4pm, a free Children's Festival will be held at the Underfleet play park.

At the festival. Exeter Fun Science will run some great science workshops, whilst for those who enjoyed Circus Berzercus at the Seaton Summer Celebration there will be another chance to practise your circus skills.

The popular Crazy Crabs beach school will be there as well, as the Thelma Hulbert Creative Cabin and a stage area for aspiring young musicians.

Visitors can have a go at making their own slime, try some dinosaur sand art and sit back and watch the magic shows and majorettes' display.

Seaton community groups will also be there with lots more fun activities and keep an eye out for special guests!

In the evening, you can Disco Like It's 1993 at The Gateway Theatre from 8pm, with hits from the late 60s to early 90s certain to get you on the dance floor. Tickets cost £6 per person and are available from The Gateway Theatre.

Rounding off the weekend and sticking with the 90s theme, Seaton Outdoor Cinema will screen Jurassic Park at Cliff Field Gardens on Saturday, August 26.

Commemorating the smash hit movie's 30th anniversary, Universal Studios has granted permission for the film to be screened on the Jurassic Coast.

Bring along a blanket and camping chair, with the gardens opening at 7pm and film at approximately 8.30pm. Tickets are now on sale at the Tourist Information Centre, Coastal Craft Collective and Owl and Pyramid, costing £12 for adults and £9 for children under 16.

Food and drink concessions will be available on site (no alcohol sales and no dogs in the gardens).

As part of the Seaton's Jurassic Weekend activities, Seaton Town Council is inviting everyone to take part in a Jurassic photo competition. Look out for the T-Rex and the  Jurassic Park gates at the various events, take a photo and upload it to Instagram at @visitseatondevon with the hashtag #seatonsjurassicweekend.

Judging will take place during the week beginning August 28 and winners will be notified, via Instagram, with information on how to collect their prize.

Please note - by posting your image to the council's Instagram page you give permission for the council to use it for other publicity purposes.
