Seaton Town Council is hoping to deliver a programme of beach school activities for children and their families with an environmental focus this summer.

The beach activities are one of the objectives of the council's town plan and will be run as a pilot scheme during the summer holiday, with the possibility of repeating them in future years.

The council is currently accepting quotation from appropriately qualified individuals to deliver the service in 2022.

They are looking for someone to deliver a minimum of two two-hour sessions per week during the six-week summer holiday period, including one session for four to seven year olds and one for seven to 11 year olds.

It is hoped these will cover an introduction to Seaton beach, including its history, structure, beach cleaning; tides and rock pools; marine conservation; beach art and treasure trails; sustainability and fishing; and beach safety.

Children could then be presented with a certificate if they complete all six sessions.

The council also intends to run a summer poster competition alongside the beach school programme in which children will be encouraged to enter and create a poster to raise awareness about an environmental related topic.

Full details of the contract and how to apply are available here.
