Seaton Chamber of Commerce has been relaunched and hopes to establish itself as the "recognised voice of Seaton".

A number of local business owners, business leaders and associated members of the community have got together and created a committee to reform Seaton Chamber of Commerce - an organisation consisting of local business owners that had become dormant.

Having dropped 'commerce' from its title with community-focussed ambitions that go beyond the business industry, the group has reformed as Seaton Chamber, widening its scope to include local residents who have a passion to place focus on the town's growth as both a place to live but also a successful visitor destination.

The group has nominated local businessman Carl Northcott, director of Northcott Building Contractors (NBC) Ltd, as its first chairman along with an elected committee and members.

They are: James Tribble (vice chair), Richard Betts (secretary),Tom Preston (membership secretary), Anna Leggett (finance), Eleanor Carr (culture and events), Sean Taylor (projects), Emma Grigg (retail), and Tom Gladstone.

The primary aims of the committee are to promote and work on a number of both tactical and strategic projects to help sustain the town and local area, connect with local communities and appropriate organisations to support these projects and generate prosperity and growth to the town and local area.

Its vision is to become the recognised voice of the Seaton area that achieves year-on-year improvement of the Seaton business and community environment, through initiative and action.

Initial projects will include reviewing the location of bus stops in the town, potential bids to take on public toilets currently under threat of closure and to redevelop the moridunum on Seaton seafront, and to extend the Stop Line Way cycle route to north Devon.

Seaton Chamber is keen to hear from like-minded individuals  who would be willing to support this exciting opportunity to make a difference to the town.

Over the next few months, you will start to see news of our activities via social media and news outlets.

If you would like to express an interest in the organisation and its aims then please do not hesitate to contact the committee at [email protected]
