Beer Film will be screening the acclaimed 'Another Round' in its final event of 2021 programme, having relaunched in summer following lockdown.
The screening will be held at The Mariners' Hall in Beer on Thursday, December 9.
BBC Radio 5 film expert Mark Kermode doesn't hand out too many five-star reviews but he made an exception for 'Another Round'.
"It's a brilliantly ambiguous affair, woozy but precise, profound yet playful, confronting matters of life and death with equal vigour, while ultimately raising a toast to the redemptive power of cinema," wrote Kermode.
The plot of this quirky Danish film (certificate 12A) focuses upon four teachers who desperately want a change in their professional lives try doing an experiment of testing different amount of alcohol levels in their bodies and see what changes it leads to in their lives.
However, this unsurprisingly turns dark and changes their lives for the better or the worse.
It was not only Kermode and his fellow critics who liked the film, however, as it also won the 2021 Academy award for Best International Feature film.
The bar will be open and there may even be some sweet treats to thank audiences for their support since the society relaunched at The Mariners' Hall.
Doors open at 6.45 for a 7.30pm start. Tickets for non-members cost £7 – or join on the night for an annual membership of £15 and get your ticket for £5.
