Presenting his report at the monthly meeting of Axmouth Parish Council, Cllr Ian Thomas, who represents the Trinity Ward on East Devon District Council, expressed his concern about allegations of bullying at EDDC which had come to light following a staff survey.

He said the purpose of the Scrutiny Committee was to be a "critical friend" and to hold the Cabinet to account, which he believed was not happening.

He reassured parish councillor that he and his independent colleagues were not involved with the new administration and this issue could not be ignored.

County councillor Ian Hall also expressed his concern, saying it was it was "an uncomfortable meeting to attend" and confirmed that he would not let the matter go.
