Renowned pianist Martin Jones at The Gateway

Martin Jones is particularly famous for his recordings for Nimbus for whom he has recorded the complete piano solo works of Mendelssohn, Brahms, Debussy, Grainger (whose music you can hear him play on the soundtrack of the film Howard's End), Szymanowski and Stravinsky and the sonatas of Alun Hoddinott. Not bad going! This concert is the one that had to be postponed in October 2020 and Martin is especially looking forward to coming to Seaton after waiting so long. For us he will be playing Liszt's Variations on a theme of Bach, Debussy's Images Bk1, two pieces by Grainger: Rosenkavalier Ramble & English Waltz, Albeniz's  El Albiacin and ending with Earl Wild's wonderful Fantasy on Gershwin's Porgy & Bess.
