AFTER a lack-lustre performance in their opening game of the season on Saturday, narrowly losing 2-1, Axminster Town will be looking for a better performance against Elmore at Tiger Way this evening (kick-off 7.30 pm).
After an excellent pre-season programme Tigers' manager Josh Stunnell was disappointed with his side's first South West Peninsular Premier East match against Dartmouth.
Axminster Ladies travelled up to Bideford on Sunday to experience playing against a team in the Premier Division of the South West Regional Women's Football League, a level of football approximately four leagues higher.
Despite a result (9-0) that may not have looked like something to be proud of against a team playing at a level of this magnitude. However, it was a very good result for Ax Ladies with the team and every player working hard until the final whistle and they learnt a great deal.

TWO years ago Uplyme and Lyme Regis Cricket Club – formed in 1886 – were close to folding through lack of finance.
They were struggling on and off the field, leading to the withdrawal of their 2nd X1, and had run out of money with a new roller to pay for.
UPLYME completed their pre-season with a resounding 8 – 1 win over Colyton 2nds.
Uplyme were relaxed from the start and broke the deadlock after 20 minutes through Dan Huggins after a lovely James Souter Phillips' flick.
Kilmington have booked their place in the Devon Cricket Mini-League finals.
They finished top of the East E 1 (Tier 3) division with 86 points, after a tussle with Upottery 1st X1 (second, 81 points), Ottery St Mary 1st (3rd, 78 points) and Sidmouth 2nds X1 (4th, 15 points).
Axminster Town paid tribute to a life-long supporter before the start of their first South West Peninsular Premier East match yesterday.
Their opponents in the opening of the 2020-2021 season, Dartmouth, joined the Axminster players in a minute's silence in memory the much missed Jonny Broom.

LYME Rovers put in a convincing and fairly untroubled performance in a pre-season friendly against Millwey Rise Reserves.
Rovers started on the front foot and scored after two minutes, with good work through the left channel by Cam Fowler and Robbie Prior's deflected shot finding the bottom corner.
For yesterday`s match against Topsham 2nd X1 Millwey Rise welcomed back Nathan Womersley who has re-joined the Cclub after a season away (writes Dick Sturch).
Sam Turner also made a welcome return having recovered from the injury that plagued him for the best part of last year.
