First top-flight win for Seaton men

Seaton men history makers - Peter Moroz, Barry Follett, Chris Rose, Simon Prior

Competing in Division One of the Exeter Tennis League for the first time, Seaton Men's A pulled off a historic first ever win in the top flight of East Devon Tennis.

Undaunted after a recent crushing 8 - 0 defeat at the the hands of David Lloyd Exeter, the team bounced back with a hard fought 6 - 3 win against strong opposition from Sampford Peverell.

THE champagne was put on ice at the Davey Fort yesterday as Lyme Regis 1sts were marching towards the Devon and Exeter Premier East title when  the game was abandoned.

The Seasiders needed one point from their last game of the season against Chard Town and were coasting it at 3-0 up when the referee pulled the plug at half-time after a deluge of rain.

ALTHOUGH they have only lost one game in this COVID reduced season, Axminster Reserves must win their last game on Saturday and hope that their nearest rival, Ottery St Mary 2nds, drop points in their four remaining matches, to win the Devon and Exeter Division 2 East.

The Tigers had won all their games until last Saturday when they lost 2-0 at home to a strong Ottery.

Joe Bond who scored his 26th hat-trick for Lyme Regis

LYME Regis 1sts need just one point from their last game of this COVID-interrupted season to top the Devon and Exeter Premier East mini-league after beating Kentisbeare 6-2.

Feniton retain their one-point lead after a 1-0 win over Dawlish United to complete their season, but the Seasiders have one game in hand, home to Chard Reserves next Saturday (May 15), when a point will see them clinch the top spot on goal average. A win will give them a two-point advantage.
