Axminster Town Ladies are helping a Nigerian girl to fulfill her ambition of playing football in the UK.
In Benin, Nigeria, Omorovbiye Aigbe has broken the mould in her community by being the only girl playing football with the boys. She trains with Celestial FC as one of only three girls in the club.
Her greatest ambition is to come to the UK to play for a ladies team and "feel the buzz as we walk onto the pitch".
But her chances of doing so are very slim as she meets the challenge of staying in education after the death of her parents. This will cost £600 plus accommodation and meals.
The Axminster Ladies are determined to turn this young women's dream into a reality and has put out an appeal for help from local clubs. The Tigers have already made her their honorary international player and they have raised £150 so far and are sending a box of kit donated by their players out to Nigeria.
The initiative is being co-ordinated by full-back Nicola Weller, who has already been interviewed on BBC Radio Devon about the project.
The Axminster club has a video of Omorovbiye's skills which show her playing in flip-flops. Nicola is hoping that her story will be picked up by a bigger club with an academy who might be able to bring her to the UK.
Nicola told Nub News: "We might be ambitious but isn't it ambition that drives of on every time we tie up our boots and walk out onto the pitch with our teammates? Limited opportunities shouldn't stop ambition."
