AFTER last week's heavy defeat, Lyme Regis Reserves were able to field a much stronger side home to Pinhoe in Division Three of the Devon and Exeter League.

The game started off fairly even, with few chances created by either team.

Once Lyme got their foot on the ball and started to move it around, the chances started coming and the Seasiders went 2-0 up with two quick goals, the first a cross which found Ben Bowditch on the back post and who hammered it home, and the second Josh Daines sweeping home a Ben Bowditch cross.

The half-time discussing revolved around the importance of being patient and continuing to move the ball to tire out the opposition - and that's what happened in the second half as the goals started to mount up.

Four more goals from youngster Josh Daines  put the game well and truly out of Pinhoe's reach. Finally, to top it off after some good play, Darius Pickering put in a good cross to the back post where the tireless Ben Bowditch headed to make it 7-0.

Manager Matt Preece, who had to referee the game in the absence of an appointed official, said afterwards: "What was really pleasing was how little keeper Rob Harp had to do in goal, specifically in the second half, as a team we limited them playing and kept the ball really well.

"The man-of-the-match undoubtedly goes to the Josh Daines. Five goals in one game is a great achievement and thoroughly deserved."

Squad: Rob Harp; Robbie Fowler, Toby Fowler, Gary Knight, Darius Pickering; Alex Rowe, Mark Bailey, Jon Davies; Ben Bowditch, Louis Rinaldi, Josh Daines. Subs: Zak Harrison, Cam Fowler, Dan Rendall.
