Although LymeRegis Reserves put in a disappointing display at Central on Saturday, losing 5-1, the scoreline flattered the home team to a certain extent but there was no doubt they were beaten by superior opposition.

Lyme, who travelled with a bare 11 players,  started on the front foot, creating some good chances and keeping the Exeter team penned in their half. But the Seasiders failed to cash in on these and Central started to gain ground in the Lyme half, winning a free kick 30 yards out, which crashed off the bar and hit the back of keeper Rob Harp before going in the net, to make it 1-0.

Central then started to put the Lyme goal under pressure and after a lucky bounce in midfield, their player ended up through on goal with lots of space and rounded Rob Harp to slot into and empty net.  Centra's third goal of the half came from a deflection in the box.

At half time the dressing room discussion about holding a tighter defensive shape and limiting the balls over the top. For the first 15 minutes Lyme stopped the home team from attacking and managed to pull a goal back. New signing Tom Kilcoyne git second goal for the club, a strong effort with his left foot from just inside the area, finding its way into the bottom corner.

Lyme pressed hard to reduce the arrears and looked looked capable of creating  another opportunity, but the lads' energy levels dropped off  with some players struggling with injury and others starting there first game of the season which resulted in Central having more time on the ball.

Another 30-yard free kick struck sweetly into the top corner to make in 4-1 followed by a well was taken strike completed a tough day for the Seasiders' second string against a well drilled, experienced and talented opposition.

This defeat saw Lyme drop to fifth place in the Devon and Exeter Division Three and on Saturday they will be looking for a better performance at home to Hemyock (kick-off 3 pm).
