Rain severely affected the Devon League cricket programme with a number of key games being cancelled which could impact on the league placings in the run-in to the end of the season.

In the Axe Valley, Seaton's Division A home match with Torquay was called off, ruining Seaton's chance of securing much-needed points in their fight to avoid relegation.

In Division B, Kilmington's home game with Thorverton also fell foul to the weather.

One game that did go ahead, albeit with a delayed start, was Uplyme and Lyme Regis' crucial Division D East fixture in which they strengthened their chances of finishing in top spot of the table with another convincing win whilst their nearest rivals fell victim to the weather.

Uplyme were at home to Feniton and after winning the toss they dispensed with the visitors for just 72 runs in 16 overs after a late start due to the rain. Star bowler for Uplyme was Jack Lamb-Wilson who finished with figures of 4 for 16 off 4 overs with Steve Batey weighing in for 3 for 7 in two overs.

Uplyme coasted to maximum points with opener Mark Batey (27 not out) and Tyler Wellman (22 not out) steering them to victory.

Uplyme have now moved ahead of leaders Alphington and Countess Weir on points but still occupy second place as Alphington, whose game against Kentisbeare was cancelled, have a better average.

Third placed North Devon's away game at Clyst Hydon was also called off could now be out of the running for the top honour.

The division champions could well be decided this Saturday when Alphington and Countess Wear travel to Uplyme .

Uplyme and Lyme Regis 20 points, Feniton 2 points.

Also in Division D East, there was no play in Chardstock's away game at Sidmouth 3rd X1 was rained off.

In E Division East, Axminster Town 1st X1 travelled to Bradninch and were put into bat after losing the toss. Only one player, Matt Cheney, reached double figures (23) and they were all out for 77 in 32 overs.

In only took Bradninch only 40 balls to knock off the required runs.

Bradninch 20 points, Axminster town 1 point.
