Colyton Caterpillars pre-school will be putting their latest new toy to use in improving language skills and imagination.

Emergency services were called to Axmouth harbour on Friday afternoon after two kayakers capsized.

Beer coastguards and Lyme Regis lifeboat crew were called to the scene at about 1pm after receiving reports that two kayakers had fallen overboard and were clinging on to the vessel.

Beer Action Group has raised £1,200 for end of life care service Seaton Hospiceare@Home by making and selling face masks.

Members of the action group, which was set up to co-ordinate a community response to the coronavirus pandemic, have been busy making masks and running a pop-up shop in the village in recent weeks.

Coastguards are encouraging walkers and those enjoying the coast to use the 'What3Words' app so they can be easily found in the event of an emergency.

The app can be used on smartphones and will hep coastguards locate casualties as quickly as possible, within three metres of their position.

With divisions having been finalised and a full programme of fixtures put in place for the cut-down version of the Tolchards Devon Cricket League season, Seaton Cricket Club has been placed in one of the strongest mini-leagues.

Seaton will be playing three of East Devon's most tough opponents in the Premier East division - Exmouth, Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton.

Beer has been rated as the tenth best seaside town in the UK in a Which poll.

The poll, which surveyed 3,700 people, named St Mawes in Cornwall as the top seaside town with Dartmouth and Southwold in Suffolk in second and third places respectively.
