Colyton will still be hosting a switch-on of the Christmas lights, but the full Christmas Fayre will not be able to go ahead

The annual Colyton Christmas Fayre will be unable to go ahead in its full capacity this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the town will still be sparkling for the festive season.

The full fayre - which usually includes the town hall packed with stalls and entertainment outside - will not be able to go ahead as usual, but there will still be a socially-distanced switch on of the Christmas lights on Wednesday, December 2nd at 5.30pm.

Colyton Chamber of Feoffees chairman Colin Chesterton presents a certificate to Colin Pady for his 50 years of service

One of Colyton's most well-known community stalwarts was honoured for 50 years of public service earlier this month.

On 8 September 1970, Colin Pady became a member of the Colyton Chamber of Feoffees and on the same night earlier this month, his fellow members recognised his fifty years' service with a surprise presentation following their socially-distanced, monthly meeting.

Kerbside recycling rates across Devon increased during lockdown, according to the latest figures released by Recycle Devon.

Ahead of the 16th Annual Recycle Week, to be held from September 21 to September 27, the figures show a 12 per cent increase between April and June 2020.

Beer coastguards were called to assist colleagues in Exmouth earlier this week with what was thought to be a stranded dolphin, but actually turned how to be 10-foot long tuna.

The Beer team were called a 6.06pm on Wednesday, as there was a group of about 50 to 60 people in the water off Exmouth trying to catch a glimpse of what they believed to be a dolphin.
