Colyton Parish Council chairman Andrew Parr survived a motion of no confidence by one vote this week, following another ill-tempered debate over the Neighbourhood Plan.

Colyton Parish Neighbourhood Plan - which is being made to guide future sustainable change, growth and development within the parish - has been plagued with controversy over the past five years, with claims of "turf wars" between Colyton and Colyford, a mass resignation of volunteers back in 2016 and, most recently, parish councillor Howard West threatening to stand down.

The Seaton Cyclefest is one of the most challenging road races in the South West

Due to the coronavirus and the impact on volunteers and sponsors, Seaton Cycle Fest was cancelled this year but there is every hope that one of the premier British Cycling-endorsed races in the South West will go ahead in 2021.

Seaton Town Council had agreed to act as principal sponsor of the prestigious race in 2020 and 2021, for £15,000.

Seven new, environmentally-friendly electric vans, each with a custom-made caged tipping body, are being leased by East Devon District Council in a drive towards reducing its carbon footprint.

The council is one of the first in the country to add the lower emission bespoke Nissan ENV200 vehicles to their fleet with the modification, which means that the vans are used daily to keep the parks and public realm areas of East Devon clean and green.

Seaton Tennis Club resumed socially distant tennis as the lockdown lifted this week.

Three of the club's courts were resurfaced during the enforced absence including a brand new astro turf court, already christened by some members, 'The Paddling Pool'.
