Devon County Council has approved a 4.99 per cent council tax increase as part of budget proposals that will see more funding for vulnerable children, adult social care and health, and repairing potholes.

More than £37million of additional funding will be pumped into vital services for the 2021/22 financial year, with an £21.7million earmarked for adult care and health, and £11.4million for children's services.

The impact of Brexit on Devon's fishing industry won't be fully seen until coronavirus pandemic restrictions are lifted, county councillors have been told.

Devon County Council's full council last Thursday heard that there were potential economic impacts and also opportunities for Devon as a result of the Brexit trade deal and changes to the fishing quota and catch regimes.

More than a third of the adult population of Devon have now had their first COVID-19 vaccine, latest NHS England figures show.

The statistics, which provide the position as of February 14, show that there had been 355,271 vaccines delivered in Devon, with 342,397 of them being the first dose. More than 70,000 vaccinations were carried out in the last week.

Beer Parish Council has been negotiating with East Devon District Council throughout the last five years for the transfer of key community assets.  

The assets, land and buildings being considered are: The Jubilee, the toilet block, the Memorial play park, Charlie's Yard, Beach Court car park, the lower section and enclosed area of Beer Head car park and Starre Bank.
