Friday: Love Again
A remake of the successful 2016 German rom-com SMS Fur Dich. The story follows a young woman who tries to overcome the death of her fiancé by sending him romantic texts. Unbeknownst to her, a single guy across town starts to receive the messages and endeavours to find out who is writing them.
This will be screened at The Gateway Theatre in Seaton at one of its popular picnic film nights on Friday, June 16.
Saturday and Sunday: Axe Vale Show
One of Axminster's biggest annual events returns this weekend. The Axe Vale show is designed to showcase the very best Axminster and the surrounding area has to offer, with the emphasis very much on participation and community involvement.
This year to be held at Axminster Showground over the weekend of June 17 and 18, there will be a full programme of displays, entertainment and shopping.
New for 2023 is entertainment from Horsemen of the Knight, a team of professional stunt riders. If you think you recognise any of them then you probably do - regularly working in the film and TV industry on productions such as Game of Thrones, Beowulf, Merlin, King Arthur, War Horse, Peaky Blinders, Sherlock Holmes, Guy Richie's The Legend of the Sword, Outlaw King, Mary Queen of Scots and many more! This year at the Axe Vale Show, the audience will be treated to a magnificent display of jousting.
This year's event will also include the Jez Avery stunt show, terrier racing, displays by Axminster gymnastics, a programme of live music as well as dozens of stalls selling local crafts, produce, plants, food and drink.
There will also be a bouncy castle, Punch & Judy shows, face painting, roaming dinosaurs, archery and plenty more activities for children.
Saturday: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill must rally his team to defend the universe and protect one of their own. If the mission is not completely successful, it could possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
This will be screened at The Gateway Theatre in Seaton at one of its popular picnic film nights on Saturday, June 17.
