Beer Film Society's next screening will be 'The Farewell' on Thursday, April 21.
Better bring your handkerchief, according to BBC Radio 5 Live film critic Mark Kermode, who warned that when watching this film "you will laugh, you will cry".
Based on an actual lie, this funny and uplifting tale sees Chinese-born, US-raised Billi (Awkwafina) reluctantly return to Changchun to find that, although the whole family knows their beloved matriarch, Nai-Nai, has been given mere weeks to live, everyone has decided not to tell Nai-Nai herself.
To assure her happiness, they gather under the joyful guise of an expedited wedding, uniting family members scattered among new homes abroad.
The film certainly made its mark with the critics.
"Magnificent screen presence. I thought it was really lovely. I thought it was really funny. I thought it was really moving," - Mark Kermode.
Those planning to attend should email [email protected] to reserve your seats/table before Friday, April 15.
Tickets will be available on the door costing £5 for members and guests £7. You can join on the night for an annual membership costing £15 and enjoy the discount for the next 12 months.
Doors open at 6.45pm and the film starts at 7.30pm. The bar will be open.
