Seaton Town Council is planning to explore the possibility of redeveloping their home since 2016 at the Marshlands Centre in Harbour Road.

At next Wednesday's meeting of the full council members will be asked to commission a feasibility report on the drafting of a tender process for demolishing existing buildings at the centre and replacing them with a purpose-built office accommodation for the council.

Tentative plans also include provision for a museum and residential units on the upper floors with the whole scheme to be in keeping with the nearby Fosseway redevelopment.

Seaton council was based at the former Town Hall, now The Gateway multi-entertainment complex, before acquiring the former Devon County Council day centre in Harbour Road.

Other matters to be considered at Wednesday's meeting, which is being held by video conferencing, starting at 6.30 pm, include:

  • Approving the new website and authorising town clerk Julia Mutlow to arrange for its launch as soon as is practicable.
  • Approve the first part of the Seaton Town Trail including the allocation of a maximum of £1,200 for replacement boards at Marshlands and approval of six complimentary works by local artists.
  • Replacement of the town's outdoor gym equipment at a cost of £16,506 at Seafield Gardens, subject agreement by East Devon District Council.
  • To approve the switching on of the Christmas Lights on Saturday, November 28 and authorise officers to work with other stakeholders to organise Christmas lights event.

Seaton Town Council still has three vacancies. Anyone who would like to offer their services should contact the town clerk.
