Seaton Neighbourhood Policing Team will be hosting a Crime and Safety Roadshow in the town this spring.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 1 from 10am to 2pm at the Marshlands Centre in Harbour Road.

The Crime & Safety Roadshow was an event coined by former Seaton neighbourhood sergeant Andy Squires, and has been given a revamp by current beat manager PC Sam Parfett.

He said: "The idea behind the event is that it gathers together a raft of different agencies to provide guidance and support to local residents around different issues.

"For example, the neighbourhood policing team will be on hand to listen to any concerns around crime and anti-social behaviour, while the local district and county councils can take concerns over potholes, street lighting or bins.

"Trading Standards will be in attendance and can offer advice around doorstep crime and rogue traders, which we unfortunately see a big rise in over the summer months.

"And other organisations such as Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service and Citizens Advice will be on hand to provide advice on home safety and other legal matters.

"I'm really keen to see as many local people as possible to hear what their concerns are and to see what we can do collectively to tackle those issues."

PC Parfett said that if the event is a success, it may also be rolled out in Honiton, Sidmouth and Axminster over the coming months.
