Seaton teens Josie Bennett and Cameron Vincent have announced plans for a disco night which they hope will help them raise funds for a life-changing expedition to Costa Rica in 2024.

The friends will be hosting the disco at Colyford Village Hall on Saturday, July 15.

Josie and Cameron are Year 10 students at Sidmouth College, both living in Seaton, and have signed up for the demanding four-week volunteering trip with Camps International, where they'll work on vital community, environment and conservation projects like building a school and planting trees in the rainforest.

They must each find ways to raise the £4,850 expedition fee through various fundraising activities.

The school friends decided to join forces and organise a disco, off the back of a very successful quiz night earlier in the year.

Josie and Cameron say proceeds from the event will help towards their substantial fundraising targets, adding: "We're hoping to raise around £500 to £750 on the night if we can, through ticket sales and a raffle."

The disco is being held on Saturday, July 15 from 7pm at Colyford Village Hall. Booking is essential – tickets cost £10 per person, with children under 12 going free. Snacks will be provided and there'll also be a bar and raffle.

To book, contact Josie at [email protected] or Cameron at [email protected]

Anyone interested in making a general donation towards Josie and Cameron's expedition can also donate on their disco fundraising page: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/disco-for-costa
