Volunteers and supports from Seaton, Beer & District branch of the RNLI enjoyed warm and sunny weather for their Mayday Appeal Welly Walk on Sunday.

The event saw supporters walk from Fisherman's Gap to the end of East Walk, then to the end of West Walk and back again as part of the life-saving charity's national Mayday Appeal.

They pushed with them mascots RNLI Ted 1 and little Rodney Bear in a pushchair.

It is not yet known how much was raised, as donations and sponsorship are still being collected.

Many supporters are continuing to walk Mayday Miles throughout the month of May, including RNLI branch secretary Wendy Cummins who has to date walked more than 40 miles.

Meanwhile, a Colour a Wellington Boot competition saw 22 entries submitted by pupils at Seaton Primary School, which were judged on Sunday at Pebbles Coffee House.

The branch is now looking forward to Beer Lifeboat Weekend with a table-top sale to be held at The Mariners Hall in Beer on Saturday, July 1 from 9am to 12.30pm.

The doors will be open to sellers from 8am and tables are available for hire at £6 for one or £12 for two – call 07790 861 531 or email [email protected]

There will be bacon baps, tea, coffee, cake, a raffle, tombola and a variety of stalls.

A street collection will also be held on July 1 and the branch's 16 annual Duck Race Day will be held in Beer on Sunday, July 2.

Exmouth and Lyme Regis lifeboats have also been invited to give a display, as well as Beer coastguards, the Exmouth Sea Safety stand and the inflatable Shannon boat.

There will also be a duck tombola, stalls and a Colour in a Duck Poster competition, with the duck race itself starting at 3pm.

The Seaton, Beer and District branch's RNLI shop at Jubilee Gardens in Beer is now open for the 2023 season.

Volunteers aim to open the shop seven days a week from 10am to 4pm, subject to volunteer availability and weather.
