Seaton Primary School has installed eight new hand-washing stations in the playground to help students keep their hands clean throughout the day.
The PTA-funded project was just one of many initiatives put in place by Seaton Primary School before the start of the autumn term to prevent the spread of germs and keep the children and staff safe whilst on site during the coronavirus pandemic.
The stainless steel sinks are equipped with running water, soap and paper towels and are spaced out around the school to help the children maintain in their year group 'bubbles'.
Savannah Bower, Year 4 said: "I really like the new sinks as it helps wash away germs."
Not just a safety feature, having numerous hand-washing stations outside the school building is also a time-saving convenience.
Every child washes their hands before they enter the classroom in the morning and then before and after every breaktime throughout the day.
Nic George, headteacher at Seaton Primary, commented: "A huge thank you to the Seaton School PTA for funding this very important project. Hygiene is so important at the moment and the additional sinks outside have really helped with the increased handwashing expectation.
"Often, I hear the children singing 'Happy Birthday' when I go past them at the sinks - the song lasts for 20 seconds which is the recommended hand-washing time.
"Again, well done to our PTA, they do a great job in supporting the school."
The PTA has also recently funded 'Class of 21' leavers' sweatshirts for all Year 6 pupils, which include every child in the year group's name printed on the back.
