Seaton kicked off the East Devon Carnival circuit on Saturday night with a successful procession watched by hundreds.

It was the first East Devon carnival procession since 2019, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and crowds lined the streets to cheer on the impressive illuminated floats and walking entries.

As usual, the largest entries came from Sid Vale and the Colyton-based Nunsford Nutters carnival clubs, with Sid Vale's Van Helsing vampire-theme entry winning best overall float.

The procession rounded off a week of carnival events in Seaton, and it is now the turn of Colyton with its procession to be held this Saturday, September 10, with Axminster's following on September 17.
