Many homes in Seaton and across East Devon have been left without water today (Sunday).

South West Water has reported that customers in EX12, EX13 and EX14 are experiencing low water pressure or no water supply at all due to a burst water main, with some saying they have been affected for 24 hours.

This includes homes and businesses in Axminster, Seaton, Honiton and surrounding areas.

Other shortages have also been reported in EX16 (Tiverton) and EX2 (Exeter).

It is understood that South West Water is still trying to locate the source of the issue and no timescale has been given for when the water supply may be reinstated.

The company is being heavily criticised by residents for inconsistent communication and "mixed messages".

Many have requested water deliveries as local supermarkets have reportedly run out of bottled water.

On Sunday afternoon, South West Water said the area affected was so widespread they were trying to figure out the best way to deliver an alternative water source.

Their latest statement at 6.40pm on Sunday said: "We currently do not have a time frame for restoration. We are providing customers with an alternative water supply. Customers who are not on our priority services list will need to request this.

"In the meantime we are posting updates to our social media pages."

Local MP Richard Foord has called for further updates from South West Water after being contacted by several of his constituents, telling the water company "communication is key".

County councillor Ian Hall is attempting to work with South West Water to ensure the most vulnerable residents have access to water.
