Seaton Extinction Rebellion supporters among those to take part in London demonstrations
Twelve members of Seaton and Axe Valley Extinction Rebellion were among those to take part in a four-day demonstration in London this week.
The national campaign group Extinction Rebellion joined several other organisations to peacefully demonstrate for more action to be taken against climate change.
Named 'The Big One', the demonstration was held in key areas across the city over a four-day period, ending on Monday.
A spokesperson for Seaton and Axe Valley Extinction Rebellion said: "It was an amazing series of events and marches with pickets held at 16 government departments as well as parliament itself.
"My favourite moment was after perhaps 30,000 of us had marched to audible birdsong from our phones, then we all simultaneously dropped to the tarmac in silence; we must have lined almost a kilometre of roads around Parliament Square and back along Bridcage Walk to St James' Park. It was moving and dramatic."
Members of the local Extinction Rebellion group will be reflecting on their experiences and discussing their next steps at their meeting on Wednesday, April 26, from 7pm to 9pm at Umborne Studio, Colyton, adjacent to Finn Studio by the river on the Whitford Road out (EX24 6LU).
