As national leaders meet in Glasgow for the COP26 conference, councillors from Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Seaton have been offered Carbon Literacy training to help improve their understanding of the climate and ecological emergency.
The first workshop was held last Thursday, led by Lyme Regis councillor and climate activist Belinda Bawden, as part of a national pilot for the toolkit for town and parish councillors.
Next Thursday, November 11, the Carbon Literacy team will be presenting feedback from the trial as part of the COP26 Local Authority Day.
Seaton is one of several local authorities to have already declared a climate and ecological emergency. It aims to be carbon neutral by 2030.
The COP26 summit will continue until November 12, bringing political parties and leaders together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
