SAVE Food Hub, based in Seaton, is keen to work with other local groups and events to further prevent food waste.

They did just this after the recent Grizzly Race in Seaton, for which Tesco donated a huge pile pf bananas so that runners could enjoy a healthy snack and refuel after finishing the gruelling race.

Staff from LED Leisure stepped in to hand out the fruit at the finish line on Seaton Esplanade.

There were some bananas leftover and these were donated to SAVE Food Hub's Seaton Community Larder, handed out to some using the service, as well as those at Seaton Library and some were sent on to Seaton and Axminster food bands and Seaton Primary School.

So not a single banana went to waste!

SAVE Food Hub collects perfectly good, end-of-date food from local stores in East Devon and then offers it to the community for free from various outlets.

They first donate as much food as possible to local food banks and then makes items available to everyone in the local community.
