The Seaton, Beer and District branch of the RNLI raised more than £430 at its recent SOS table top sale in Beer.
This was the branch's first fundraising event of the year, held at the Mariners Hall, where there were a variety of stalls, a raffle, card tombola and bacon baps on sale.
The branch would like to thank all those who supported the event, and in particular Ian for cooking the bacon rolls with help from Fe, Lillian and Wendy.
The local RNLI branch is now looking forward to assisting with Seaton's annual Grizzly Race on Sunday, March 5. As in previous years, volunteers will be at the drinks station at Beer Head Caravan Park with Beer Village Heritage, where they will be cheering the runners on their way.
Additional volunteers will be most welcome to join the RNLI for all or part of the day, from 9am to 4pm. Wear suitable clothing to stay warm and bring some refreshments with you.
The branch – formed in 1967 – will then hold its annual general meeting on Tuesday, March 7 at the Congregational Hall in Beer, starting at 7.30pm.
Community fundraising manager Gemma Baker will be attending with news from the RNLI and Mark Colley, lifeboat operations manager from Lyme Regis will be attending and talking about the station and some of their recent rescues.
Members will be reviewing 2022 and looking forward at its plans for 2023.
Both the chairman and vice-chairman are retiring from the fundraising committee at this meeting, and the branch would like to thank them for all their hard work.
These positions will be available and additional volunteers needed and welcome to join, assisting at events and in the RNLI shop at Jubilee Gardens, Beer.
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact secretary Wendy Cummins on 01297 23040, email [email protected] or come along to the meeting.
