Appeal to support Colyford hedgehog rescue centre more than doubles its target
A successful fundraising campaign to support The Hedgehog Hut rescue centre in Colyton has more than doubled its original target.
Beer Men's Shed launched the fundraising appeal in April, hoping to raise £1,500 to it could create hedgehog boxes for the rescue centre at no cost to them.
They set themselves a 'stretch target' of £2,000 – thinking they might "get lucky" – which would allow them to continue delivering hedgehog boxes up until the end of 2024.
After being selected by Aviva as one of its chosen causes for the Aviva Community Fund and a total of 94 pledges, the appeal has now reached a staggering total of £4,314.41.
This will allow Beer Men's Shed members to keep The Hedgehog Hut supplied with free hedgehog boxes for the next three years.
Every time they make a hedgehog box, it is used for a rescued hedgehog that has been brought back to be released back into the wild with a safe home to protect it from predators.
