Police assure public 'Seaton is still safe' after violent incident in Tesco

Police have assured the public that Seaton remains a safe place following a violent incident in Tesco last month.
Police were called to Tesco in Seaton at about 5.30pm on Thursday, February 25 following a report of a fight involving three or four men and a glass bottle in the alcohol aisle.
One man sustained lacerations to his face and a dislocated shoulder.
The incident was captured on the store's CCTV and Dylan Green, aged 21, of no fixed abode in Ottery St Mary, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and resisting apprehension.
He remains in custody awaiting a trial date.
Speaking at this month's Seaton Town Council meeting, Sergeant Roy Hutter assured members that this was not a random incident, but a targeted attack "from one male on another male".
He said, while it may have been "very unsightly" for any witnesses, there was no need for the general public to be concerned.
The Mayor of Seaton, Cllr Ken Beer, said that rumours had circulated the town that this was a stabbing incident, but added: "We do not have the problem in Seaton of people running around with knives."
Sergeant Hutter agreed that there were "no gangs of youths running around with knives".
"There is nothing to be concerned about as a member of the public, Seaton is still a safe place to walk around and live," he added.
Cllr Martin Macaskill, who said he arrived in Tesco shortly after the incident, praised the staff as "fantastic", adding: "They managed it very well without causing undue panic."
