Overmass & Chapple is Seaton's longest established funeral directors situated in its original private courtyard at Chapple Court, off Queen Street.

They have now partnered with Seaton Nub News to launch our new Obituaries page.

In 1992, trusted family Funeral Directors, A. G. Down of Bridport were approached to purchase Overmass & Chapple, having been assisting them for several months through their Axminster Funeral Home at W. G. Potter.

Julian Hussey became the funeral director in Seaton and over the following years built up an excellent reputation through the dignified, professional and caring service he offered to families.

Julian, known locally for his singing voice, was born and grew up in Bridport and had recently returned home after gaining his National Association of Funeral Directors' Diploma and working as a Funeral Director in the Midlands.

In 2012 funeral director Jerry Parkhouse joined the team following his return to the West Country.

Jerry was born in Exeter and brought up in Exmouth. He has an extensive background of over 30 years in the funeral industry, previously working for both independent and corporate firms in areas such as Kent and London, overseeing up to 27 Funeral Homes at one time.

Jerry is well known in the local community, a member of Seaton Lions Club and a caring and truly professional funeral director.

Julian said: "I moved to Seaton in 1992 when Roy Chapple entrusted the ownership of the business to us.  I was able to build strong community links within Seaton and the surrounding areas."

"When Jerry joined us in 2012 he lived in Seaton and soon became a member of the local Lions Club and trod the boards with Colyton Theatre Group."

Jerry added: "Being away from East Devon showed me that my return was always going to happen; the lifestyle, my work satisfaction, the scenery and of course the community is what life is all about.

"Caring for those who need us, delivering in a professional way and appreciating whatever lies ahead."

Overmass & Chapple has its own Service Room on site for all types of services.

S. J. Richards & Son of Colyton became part of Overmass & Chapple when Laurence Richards sought retirement
