No more coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in the Seaton area in February, according the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics.

Figures were updated this week to include death figures by local area for February, showing there were no further COVID-related deaths in Seaton.

The town has seen a total of 13 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic first broke out in the UK in March 2020.

There were also no further deaths reported in the neighbouring areas of Colyton, Kilmington & Uplyme, or Sidbury, Offwell & Beer in February.

Coronavirus case numbers currently remain low across the local area, with fewer than three cases reported in Seaton in the seven-day period up until March 16.

For small areas with fewer than three cases, full data is not revealed as to protect individuals' identities.

There were also fewer than three cases in several surrounding areas, including Lyme Regis, Charmouth & Marshwood Vale; Tatworth & Combe St Nicholas, Dunkeswell, Upottery & Stockland; Honiton North & East; Ottery St Mary & West Hill; Poppleford, Woodbury & Otterton; Sidmouth Town; and Axminster.

Kilmington, Colyton & Uplme had four cases in the seven-day period up until March 16, a decrease of one on the previous week.

Sidbury, Offwell & Beer has seen case numbers drop back down to five having peaked in the mid-40s earlier this month following an outbreak at the Homesley care home which resulted in the death of seven residents.

These deaths will be included in the figures for March, which will be released on April 22.

There were eight cases in the neighbouring Sidmouth Sidford area, down one on the previous week, and three in Honiton South & West, an increase of one.

There were 12 cases in Chard West, an increase of four on the previous week; and seven in Chard North & East, a decrease of two.

Hospitalised COVID patients drop across Devon

The number of patients in Devon hospitals following a positive COVID-19 test has fallen to levels not seen since early October.

As of Tuesday, March 9, there were 36 patients across the county in hospital after a positive test, down on the 43 as of the previous Tuesday.

And in Cornwall, the patients in hospital have also fallen, dropping from 23 to 18.

In total there were 17 patients at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (up from 12 as of March 2), six at Torbay Hospital (down from 10), 12 in Derriford Hospital in Plymouth (down from 18), one at North Devon District Hospital (down from two), and none in Devon Partnership NHS Trust units (down from one), although not all patients may be local as some Devon hospitals were providing mutual aid to other counties.

The figure for the Torbay is the lowest since October 11 and Derriford since October 18.

And the number of patients in mechanical ventilation beds across the two counties is down as well to 10, from 16 the previous week, with four in Exeter, and three in Plymouth and Cornwall.
