Homes England announces developer for Colyton's Ceramtec site

By Francesca Evans 18th Feb 2021

Homes England has exchanged contracts for the sale of the former Ceramic site in Colyton with Wainhomes South West.

Homes England, the government's housing accelerator, secured outline planning permission for the demolition of the vacant and derelict factory buildings at the Sidmouth Road site and the development of up to 72 new homes and light industrial units in June 2020.

They recently completed the demolition of the buildings and have now exchanged contracts for the sale of the site with Wainhomes South West, who will have to secure approval of the outstanding reserved planning matters from East Devon District Council.

Sam Gammon, senior development manager at Homes England said: "We are very happy to be partnering with Wainhomes South West to deliver this fantastic site in the quaint rural town of Colyton, East Devon.

"Wainhomes South West have extensive experience of delivering high-quality schemes across the south west of England. With their head office less than 20 miles from the site, we are confident that they will bring the local flair and passion that we know will be important to the residents and businesses of Colyton."

Mark Harding, land and planning director for Wainhomes South West, added: "This is our first project with Homes England and we are delighted to be involved with the redevelopment of this brownfield opportunity in Colyton.

"|We look forward to building a mixture of well-designed quality homes and industrial units which will be in keeping with the character of this pretty East Devon Town.

"We will work closely with both the Colyton Parish Council and East Devon District Council in the preparation of our Reserved Matters Planning application later this year."
