Police arrested a man in Seaton for driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs

A driver considered to be "a danger to the residents of Seaton" to was arrested on Thursday, April 7.

Officers stopped the man after he was seen to veer across the road before coming to a stop and mounting the kerb. The man had come to the attention of the same officer earlier than day when he first began drinking, and had told the officer in no uncertain terms to 'go away'.

Having decided to get in his motor vehicle and drive this on a public road again, police considered that he posed a danger to the residents of Seaton.

The driver was arrested for driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and has now been charged and will appear in court shortly.

A spokesperson for the police said: "I'd like to remind our communities to call 999 if you see someone attempting to drive, or driving whilst impaired through drink or drugs.

"I'd like to remind those of you who choose to drive whilst impaired to think about the legal, personal and financial implications that you risk; not to mention the consequences that you may have to live with for the rest of your lives.

"Anti-social driving and driving offences is and will remain our top priority in Seaton, as directed by our local community.

"Our officers use a range of marked and unmarked vehicles to patrol our roads and we will continue to make it a hostile environment for those who choose to break the law, and will of course continue to keep you updated on our progress."
