Local crews were called to a fire caused by a fuse box at a bungalow in Seaton yesterday (Tuesday).
Crews from Seaton and Colyton attended the scene, where they used four breaking apparatus wearers using dry power extinguishers to put the fire out.
Crews advised that in any kind of fire you should follow the advice 'Get Out, Call 999, Stay Out'.
A spokesperson for Colyton Fire Station said: "Never try and tackle a fire yourself as just two to three breaths of toxic smoke in a house fire and you're unconscious."
The previous evening (Monday), the Colyton crew were called to Southleigh to assist with a chimney fire.
If you are burning wood and use your fire regularly during winter, it's worth getting your chimney swept more than once a year.
