Seaton will finally be switching on its Christmas lights on Saturday, December 10.

The event was postponed from November 26 due to clashes with similar events in neighbouring towns, but a full festive programme is now planned for the delayed event.

Celebrations will get underway from 1.30pm, as The Gateway Theatre will be hosting children's Christmas activities throughout the afternoon and Father Christmas in his grotto, followed by a screening of 'Arthur Christmas' at 3pm.

Also at 3pm, a carol service with traditional nativity play will be held at Seaton Methodist Church.

The build-up to the big switch on will get underway in The Square with festive music from 5pm and a performance by Seaton Majorettes at 5.15pm.

A festive fancy dress competition will be judged by the Mayor of Seaton at 5.30pm before he switched on the lights at 5.45pm.

There will then be carol singing by Seaton Acapella Choir from 6pm and a visit from Father Christmas at 6.30pm.

Meanwhile, various activities will be held at Seaton Library and local shops in Cross Street, Fore Street and Queen Street will be opening doors late and hosting their own celebrations.

Seaton Tramway's popular Polar Express will also be operating.
